EMPLOYMENT
Many people are surprised by the career fields that can be found at the BCPSSD. Because of the nature of our business and the amount of work we handle internally instead of outsourcing, we have opportunities for auto mechanics, electrical maintenance, treatment plant operators, accounting clerks, inspectors and equipment operators, to name a few. While we normally have a low turnover rate, on occasion we do have jobs available that may be a good match to your skills and experience.
With the BCPSSD, you will find what some covet; a 40 hour work week year round. Many of our applicants come to us out of frustration of not having steady work during winter months, or unreliable hours from week to week. Those applicants that get hired then find much more than they bargained for in employment with us. Here, they find a place where they are given the chance to learn new things and gain new skills. They get supervisors that guide rather than hover over your shoulder. They get steady pay, solid benefits and the opportunity to grow.
COMPENSATION
We try to maintain a fair and equitable salary scale for all employees. We do salary surveys to compare our pay with other local public sector agencies and some private employers to make sure our employees are being paid along the same lines for similar jobs and no one is left behind. We also provide monetary incentives for additional education and skills that benefit your work here. Do you feel you are a top performer? Great! We do our best to provide salary increases based on individual performance.
BENEFITS
The benefits package at BCPSSD should meet any individual’s needs. We provide medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage at the most reasonable costs we can. We participate in the West Virginia Public Employees Retirement System (WVPERS) and offer a 457/401(a) plan. We provide paid vacation, paid sick leave and holiday pay, educational reimbursement, life insurance and disability plans. Our field employees receive uniforms as well as an annual allowance to purchase boots.
